We're finally here! Unfortunately, there wasn't any "free broadband" (as promised), so this post is kinda delayed... Nevertheless, it's finally up!
As expected, we touchdown at the cheaper terminal, Terminal 2, at Kota Kinabalu International Airport. Ironically, I expected Terminal 2, you know with having the 2 at the end, to be either a) the newer terminal or b) at least of similiar age to Terminal 1, but no.... its actually the older (more like original) airport terminal of KKIA.
Terminal 1 was, at time of press, still under renovation! Humph~ I'll be leaving KK from Terminal 1 so, will take some pics then.
As soon as we settled into our apartment(s), we headed for a rather lousy foodcourt-in-shopping-mall lunch and promptly started adventuring around. We stopped by the Anjung Samudera (a.k.a. The Waterfront) where most of the eateries were still closed and the atmosphere was real quiet. The place would probably rock at night when the dinner-and-drinks-folk start pouring in.
We went shopping after that! Heh, went to the Handicraft Market (or commonly known as the Filipino Market) nearby. There were hundreds of small stalls selling handcrafted goods. Sadly though, most of them sold the same-same stuff - pearls, sea-shells and shell-made-items, wooden containers and keychains all hand-carved with the word "Sabah", lots and lots of Malaysian and Indonesian Batik, bamboo-made stuff, etc... I didn't get anything from the market - although I was eyeing a container, carved out like a durian.
It had started to pour towards the early evening - so we decided to retreat back to our "cave" and only surface for dinner. Hehe... Now, dinner was SEAFOOD! Went to this place called "Hai Wang Chen". Initially, we went to "PortView Seafood" - but after seeing the price, our parents decided to scout out more. Lucky for us too! As, a few days later, a tour guide told us that "Hai Wang Chen" was the better (and hence, more popular) seafood restaurant. The bill came to about RM335 (after an exorbitant 15% tax) - not too bad as per person was like RM25. The best part of it all was that we picked our own food!
